How To Do Passport OCI Status Enquiry?

Go to the official website of Online OCI Services under Passport govt website. This website is only for NRI applicants.

Click the tab link OCI-Enquiry as shown below.

OCI Status-Enquiry avails you the current status of your OCI-Application. Click the link available to view your application status.

It will take you to the status page. There you need to provide all the required details to know your status.

OCI Status Enquiry is available only for the Applications which are submitted at Indian Missions

To know the status of your OCI-Application, provide your Passport Number along with Online Registration No/ File (Acknowledgment) No

Steps to be Followed :
Step 1 : Please enter your dob in DD/MMM/YYYY format (17/09/1988)
Step 2 : Please enter your Passport Number
Step 3 : Answer the Security Question (Eg : which is greater 5 or 14 ?)
Step 4 : Click Press Here Button

How To Do OCI Registration?

OCI-Registration is an online process. Eligibles are supposed to register through the appropriate link given. Only after complete successful registration, an applicant will be considered as an OCI-Card Applicant.

Application for registration as OCI can be made Online. Before filling the application, Instructions may be perused so that there is no mistake in submission of application.
To apply for OCI, click the link OCI registration link as shown below.

Now click on the link New OCI Registration

Key Points For Registration :
1. Start registration as OCI-Registration(In Lieu Of valid PIO Card) and fill all details required.
2. Provide Valid PIO-Card details at the place specified.
3. Complete Part-B of the registration process.
4. Documents supporting your application are to be uploaded in PDF format at the end of Part-B.

Applicants applying for OCI-Card, please note :
1. It is mandatory to upload Applicant’s image and Applicant’s signature image during OCI-Registration.
2. Both the images must be in jpeg or jpg format, with max size 200kb.

3. The height and width of the Applicant Photo must be equal.
The minimum dimensions are 200 pixels (width) x 200 pixels (height).
The maximum dimensions are 900 pixels (width) x 900 pixels (height).

4. The height and width of the Signature Photo must have aspect ratio 1:3
The minimum dimensions are 200 pixels (width) x 67 pixels (height).
The maximum dimensions are 900 pixels (width) x 300 pixels (height).

5. Kindly be ready with both these images before starting the registration process.

Steps for successful Registration :
1. Start registration from Part-A, then upload Image and signature; and finally complete Part-B..
2. Documents supporting your application have to be uploaded in PDF format at the end of Part-B .
3. After completing application, hard copy has to be be submitted to the selected mission’s office.

Answer the question provided and click enter button.

Select One Of The Following Options As Per Your Requirement.

Step 1 : Select Your Place of submission From Drop Down List (Eg : India)
Step 2 : Please select your mission (Eg : FRRO Chennai)
Step 3 : Please Enter Your Surname as in Passport (Eg : Pohomull)
Step 4 : Please Enter Your given name as in Passport (Eg : Nirmala)
Step 5 : Select Your Sex as Male or Female
Step 6 : Please Enter Your DOB in DD/MM/YYYY Format (Eg :12/12/1993)
Step 7 : Select Country of Birth from Drop Down List (Eg : India)
Step 8 : Select State of Birth from Drop Down List (Eg : Tamil nadu)
Step 9 : Select Your Place of Birth (Eg : Vellore)
Step 10 : Select Your Current Nationality from Drop Down List (Eg : Indonesia)
Step 11 : Please Enter any of your Visible mark (Eg : Mole on Chin)
Step 12 : Select Marital Status From Drop Down List

Step 13 : Enter Your Passport Number (Eg : GK123456)
Step 14 : Enter Date Of Issue of Passport (Eg : 17/09/2010)
Step 15 : Enter Place Of Issue of Passport (Eg : Madurai)
Step 16 : Enter Your Father’s Name (Eg : Vincent)
Step 17 : Select Your Father’s Nationality from Drop Down List (Eg : India)
Step 18 : Enter Your Mother’s Name (Eg : Angela)
Step 19 : Select Your Mother’s Nationality from Drop Down List (Eg : India)
If you are married, then Spouse’s details are also required
Step 20 : Enter your Spouse’s Name (Eg : Gurmel)
Step 21 : Select Your Spose’s Nationality from Drop Down List (Eg : Indonesia)
Step 22 : Enter Your Marraige Registartion date (Eg : 05/APR/2017)
Step 23 : Select if you are applying on the basis of Indian Spouse/ Spouse’s OCI card
Step 24 : Enter Your Spouse’s Passport Details
Step 25 : Click Save & Continue Button

Reprint OCI Registration Form

Click the link Reprint OCI Registration Form available in the OCI online Services page.
To reprint the PDFs of your Online OCI Registration, You are requested to provide following registration details.
Step 1 : Enter Your File Reference Number (Eg : 87654325)
Step 2 : Enter Your Date Of Birth (Eg : 12/05/1993)
Step 3 : Enter Your Passport Number (Eg : GH1234567)
Step 4 : Answer the Security Question
Step 5 : Click Press Here Button

OCI Image Upload/ Re-upload

Note- To proceed the uploading of image for your OCI-Application, provide your Passport Number along with Online Registration No/ File (Acknowledgment) No
Online Image Upload/Re-upload for OCI-Registration is available only for the Applicants which have successfully filled PART-A and PART-B Forms.

Frequently Asked Question (FAQs) On OCI

Can the spouse of the eligible person apply for registration as OCI Cardholder?
A spouse of eligible person can apply if he/she is eligible in his/ her own capacity.

How many copies of application have to be submitted?
Only one set of Application has to be submitted for each applicant.

Whether applicant(s) have to go in person to submit the application (s)?
No. Application(s) can be sent by post either by Speed post or Registered post only and not through Courier.

Whether the applicant (s) have to take oath before the Counsel of the Indian Mission/Post?
No. Earlier provision in this regard has been done away with.

Can a person apply in the country where he is ordinarily residing?
Yes.

Will a separate OCI passport be issued?
No.

Would the Indian civil/criminal laws be applicable to persons registered as OCI Cardholder?
Yes, for the period the OCI Cardholder is living in India.

If a person is already holding more than one nationality, can he/she apply for registration as OCI Cardholder?
Yes.

Whether an OCI Cardholder be entitled to apply for and obtain normal Indian passport which is given to a citizen of India?
No. Indian Passport is given only to an Indian citizen.

Whether nationals of Commonwealth countries are eligible for registration as OCI Cardholder?
Yes, if they fulfill the eligibility criteria.

I applied for OCI for a whole family and received email about the application received want to know the physical address of your office in New York where i can send documents for everyone in one envelop and fees with that. also would like to know that do i have to send the self addressed envelop with my documents?

    I have been waiting for my new OCI Card to be issued on the above application reference number.
    From the Tracking services online, I noticed that my application has been processed on the 12th of May 2022.
    Attached is a copy of it.

    Please advise us when I will be able to receive my renewed OCI card (as I have now crossed 20 years of my age since obtaining my original OCI card) OCI card.
